My favorite Buddhist quote is, “When you find the Buddha, kill it.” This is so rich in symbolism, and easily misunderstood…

With the quote you’ve presented here in particular, one could dwell on the present moment too much, and thus befall suffering as easily as if one dwells in the future or past too much. The middle road is imperative to our peace. Always remember, every wisdom you encounter has an extreme that will nullify it’s benefit. Dwell on nothing to the detriment of something else; even this statement can lead one astray. So, when you find the Buddha (wisdom through words), kill it; if you can kill it, it wasn’t the Buddha (the true wisdom words can’t convey). Only then will you be free of the influence of another, only then will you realize your own true nature.
